Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:

Decent quality, comfortable handles, nine picks in different shapes plus not one but TWO tension-wrench doodads. The second wrench is not (as I write this) shown in the pictures; it's a sturdy little double-ended one with a round shaft.

    Cons:

Obviously not made from top-grade steel, and the edges are all a bit rounded, which may make the picks less effective.

    OtherThoughts:

You could easily file the edges of these picks to make them sharp. The steel quality doesn't matter much, either; the flat tension wrench might bend, but it's trivial to make your own wrench by bending a small screwdriver. It's the rest of the picks that'd be more annoying to make, and any grade of steel should be fine for them. You could even make the tips a bit smaller by filing, without any danger that they'll break.

    Bottomline:

Looks like a great beginner's pick set to me.

The pitfall with buying cheap tools when you're learning to do something is that the tools may be too crappy to do the job, even in the hands of an expert. Or may break after you've done the job only ONCE :-).

These dirt-cheap picks aren't in that category. They're not the best, but they really should work fine, and you can't beat this value!
