  • Not very bright, but you can upgrade it!

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

Motion detection works perfectly. Real passive pyroelectric infrared detector inside! Low power consumption. Will not switch on when it is light, there is additional light sensor.

20 mA LED is not enough for my purposes.

I heard that PIR detectors loose their sensitivity after several years.

I removed original LED and installed... Cree XMLAWT T6 (SKU 51989) instead! I had to use huge heatsink, 2.4A regulator (SKU 20330) and additional 2805 8A switching MOSFET (desoldered from SKU 26112).

Now it sinks more than 1,5 A from 4 batteries and lights bright as hell.

Don't know how long it will work with 4 AA alkaline batteries after my upgrade. Its a pity that i can't install 18650 Li-Ion batteries in this small box!
