Reflectors screws onto the head so there is decent contact area but heat transfer could be better with a pill screwed directly onto the barrel but this would make it a more specially made one. This on the other hand can be fit into many lights with 50-52mm heads, with minor filing on some. A good platform for a multiple battery power flashlight. Still I could get the other one with springs.

Good O.P. Well made Versatile Affordable Threaded Pill Threaded front lip Not really a con but would be nice if it was a bit more tightly focused so the throw would be increased. Knocked off a point for price because I always want everything cheaper. Knocked off a point on build quality because everything can always be better. It's a brass pill/heatsink rather than the kind of copper that would come to mind such as copper plumbing pipe when thinking copper but pulls the heat away quite well. It is capable of holding a MC E star such as sku 16554 and Cree star sku 4512 if using the reflector with a Q5 or R2. The recess where the star fits in is 24mm in diameter and 2.5mm deep. The recess for a round driver is 21mm wide and 1.5mm deep I.D. of the pill is 20mm wide and 13.5mm deep Overall size is 27.7mm wide and 16.8mm deep(now we know what the *27.6mm is on the description) 2 holes are evenly centered and drilled at 180 degrees(12 0'clock & 6 O'clock) and spaced 16.5mm(c/l) apart at the star. The reflector itself is 31mm front to back(without pill) and 41mm with pill fully in place. 53mm O.D. at the threaded front lip. 48mm I.D. at the lip where the OP starts. 21mm dia. at the surround of emitter and 24.5mm deep....('whew') I've been looking for a reflector to use with the MC E that doesn't show the darkening in the center of the spot and isn't too much flood for my taste. Prefer the throw with a decent but not too wide amount of spill. I have purchased all the reflectors for MC E's and many of the larger sized regular single die Cree reflectors that DX has to offer and this is the one that best matches up with my personal taste. When used with a Q5 or R2 it turns the beam into a extremely great thrower that still has usable spill. (I've included some pictures but not being all too good at photography was the best I could do, hopefully they will be good enought to get the idea) Pretty surprising at how much of a pencil beam it makes a Q5 so if you are into throwers this one is for you. With the MC E it gives a really nice spot pattern and smooth spill transition with very little to no noticeable artifacts. With the correct spacer for focus gets the dark spot in the center to go away. Yeah the pill is brass not copper but does a good job at pulling away the heat. The pill is hollowed out from the driver side up to the backside of where the star is attached but is made very well and wasn't hard to thermal epoxy a aluminum rod in to take up some of the space(see dimensions above). I didn't do a before and after so no way to know the difference in results. Using a M bin at 2.5A at 125 yards has a spot about 16' to 20' with very good brightness and the legs to go more distance. 125 yards is the furthest I have had a chance to try it without the lights of the big city(L.A.) getting in the way. The thread on the front lip matches up with the bezels of a number of brands of flashlights so that sure helps out immensely when doing a ground up DIY assembly. Now here is a real kicker, the threads of the reflector where the pill attaches are exactly the same as the ones on a Romisen RC K4 when you take the compleat reflector head assembly off. Doesn't get full threaded on bite but a good 4 maybe 5 threads and that's pretty secure and easy to reinforce. Wow I just noticed a bunch of the idea light bulbs go on out there. Anyway... I was impressed enough to purchase a few more and if you get one I don't think you'll be let down at all. Versatile it is.
