Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month
- Does the job of an usual test pen with a few extras: - It can measure on a predefined scale the voltage present on it's tip - It has wire induction indicator for testing broken wires.
- It works on low DC voltages only if you touch the other wire. This can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing or using it in a wet environment.
Although the manual (the back side of the packing) is only printed in Chinese it is fairly easy to discover how it works. It as only two metal plates. When you touch the Direct Test button the small lamp will light and the display will show a small voltage (for 220V it show 54V). When you touch the other metal plate (induction test) it will show you the real voltage (ex - 220V). Also keeping the induction button pressed and following the wire it will show a small flash, thee being the broken wire test.
A good tool to have around in your toolbox, especially for a DIY electrician.
