Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month
Lightweight, easy to use, and seemingly well-built. Strong jet flame, but not a flamethrower.
Slight learning curve. (See Other Thoughts, below.) May require frequent filing. (I don't use it enough to say.)
To get it to light every time, you have to depress the trigger partway for a second, then complete the press so the piezoelectric thing makes a spark. If you just mash the trigger down, there isn't any gas plume for the spark to ignite. Pressing the trigger partway releases gas, which the delayed spark sets on fire.
I don't smoke, but I wanted a better-than-disposable lighter for things like melting cut rope ends. This works very well for that.
