The greatest advantage is it is of low cost. It is of reasonably good quality. The threads are smooth. Easy to stack together or to be used separately.
You need to know how to set the aperture on the lens with your camera because after putting the lens on the extension tube and on the camera, it is no way to set the aperture. With my Canon, I have to use the depth of view preview button to set the aperture when the lens is on the camera. Then remove the lens from the camera and attach it to the extension tube.
If you want to be able to set aperture with the extension tube, you should consider the one with the chip on.
It is useful. I used it to copy my old slides into digital form.
