We found in a box a few 3,5" discs with technical drawings of our building. We were doubfull if the discs could be read but all data could be retrieved withoud a single read error. Excelent ! The drive was also installed without any issues. Windows 7-x64 recognized the drive without a hitch.
MY EXTERNAL FLOPPY DRIVE BROKE AFTER 2 YEARS & 8 MONTHS. I GOT IT FROM WALMART SO I ORDERED ANOTHER FROM THEM. I GOT IT IN 3 DAYS, BUT MY COMPUTER DIDN'T RECOGNIZE IT AS A DRIVE. I TOOK IT BACK, & ORDERED THIS FROM DX. IT TOOK 3 WEEKS TO GET IT, & I HAD TO DRIVE TO THE POST OFFICE TO SIGN FOR IT....

I'M GLAD I DIDN'T "NEED" THE UNIT FOR A BUSINESS. IF I HAVE TO RETURN THIS, IT WOULD BE A WASTE OF TIME. THE UNIT COST $13.88, PLUS POSTAGE TO RETURN IT. I'LL JUST TRASH IT, & CHALK IT UP TO EXPERIENCE. LIKE I SAID IN THE TITLE "PRODUCT OK, DELIVERY SUX". I'LL GO BACK TO WALMART, BECAUSE I COULD HAVE GOTTEN 7 OF THESE UNITS IN AS LONG AS IT TOOK TO GET THIS 1.

Easy to use and has enabled me to reformat 1000's of MB of data onto current media. Well worht the money - only issues is the time taken to transfer data from floppies - seem to be forever changing to the next one! None other than slowness of transfer but the floppies do transfer as fast as they did in antique PC's. I'm just used to current data transfer speeds. An inexpensive tool to recover what could be priceless memories - e.g photos stored on floppys Well worth the purchase price, excellent speed of delivery. Would recommend for anyone needing to read the old format of a floppy disc.

USB powered

Slim design(can easily be tucked away somewhere) Diskettes can't contain much data, this technology is kinda obsolete
Might not read everything (not sure error correction is as good)
Provided cable might be a little short
Not very cheap compared to a thumb drive I bought another drive somewhere else and looks similar to this one. The brand is a gembird. It reads some, but very intermittend and not reliable. It might've beeen broken though. This drive just worked perfectly (with the same media). I highly recommend this drive. Absolutely satisfied.
The short cable is even a plus for me!

Get it if you are still using FDD.

I also tried it on my Android tablet, and it works also perfectly! :-) None found so far. It could be interesting if it was designed to allow fitting it on a 2.5" front bay. A MUST HAVE if you still keep some 2.5" floppy disks. You really don't know when you will need them.
Excellent for nostalgics, its noise brings me nice memories.

Only problem I encountered was that the connecting cable is a bit on the short side. Overall a great product. Great floppy disk drive which functions perfectly. Only minus is the cable - it's a tad on the short side, otherwise the device is fine.
