Involvement:Novice (still getting used to it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:

it comes with an extension cable. Without that, it would be very hard to use. Imagine having this stick out of your computer and then the serial device connected to this product.

    Cons:

If you plug it into the USB port first, it falls apart by separating the plastic/rubber case from the inner circuit.

The driver disk that it comes with is NOT easy to figure out. For example, the root directory contains these folders:

    OtherThoughts:

It's recognized by my Mac as a USB device but cannot seem to get either an external US Robotics Sportster or a Modem Blaster to work with it. It is probably that I don't understand the Mac enough to get it to work. On a PC, I would be considered an expert on modems but I couldn't get the Com port to appear in the device manager on the PC with the supplied drivers.

    Bottomline:

Not recommended unless you really know what you're doing with it. Better be an expert on this.
