I found the quality of these plugs to be just as good as any others I have used.
You want to use a good crimp tool. Most problems with RJ11 and RJ45 plugs are due to sloppy tolerances in the crimp tool. A $10 ebay cheapie won't cut it. You're probably going to use it for a long time; buy a quality tool.
With regard to the comment about the retention snap not working, I have found this to be a common problem on many RJ45 plugs. The solution is simple -- carefully bend the base of the retention snap away from the body so that it sticks out away from the body. Then it'll snap properly.
