Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month
I have a hobby of reccaping dead thrown away motherboards and giving away free to family and friends, or for emergencies at work.
Not to spend much, I've de-capped many dead hardware and have a decent collection. With this I can measure if those work - and about 70% do. (New can be pricey and hard to obtain!) What I've also learned, that capacitors even a little inflated top means they are WAY off and if it works it could be days before it dies. So many decent hardware revived (motherboards, graphics card, ADSL routers...)
None at all. Seems calibrated, consistent, but I don't really care. For me, under 10% variance is OK.
I bought this guided by idea of buying a specialized measure tool, opposed to multimeter that has capacitance measurement. Probably less convenient, but I believe that specialized tool should be more reliable for the price.
