So Panasonic puts out a firmware upgrade that all it does is not allow you to use anything but their batteries. Yes, they've had third party batteries explode but how many in reality ??? If you had an old Panasonic you don't do the upgrade. If you get a new camera you could downgrade back to older versions with a bit of "trickery" on the firmware name. I received a new FT1 with 1.2 on it, and came straight to Deal Extreme. No way I'm paying for a Panasonic branded battery. Had all the old firmwares ready to go in case I needed them, but NOPE this battery works with Firmware 1.2 straight out of the box !!! . I can buy 6 of these batteries for the price of one Pana one.
Not quite sure of the run time yet....
Great value. I've never had a third party battery cause any issues in any of my cameras ever.
