It works as USB 3.0 I/F through the express 34 interface. It is able to power USB flash drive and 1.8" USB 2.0 poertable HDD but unable to power a 2.5" poerable USB 3.0 HDD It cannot power a 2.5" potable USB 3.0 HDD even with the extra power inserted via additional cable - the HDD must be provided with its own power supply.
