  • Good buy if you don't need super accuracy

Pretty solid feel to it, seems well built.
You can turn the laser pointer on/off.
The display is backlit (toggle), for use in dark areas.
    Comfortable to work with.

At a distance of a meter, the measurement area is fairly large (a circle with a 12.5cm diameter), so you really need to get pretty close to measure, e.g., individual components or other small objects.
Also, the precision in the temperature measurements isn't great. While the readout will give you .1 degree increments, it's often off by 1-2 degrees, as measured with a regular (contact) thermometer.

Perhaps they should have gone with a flashlight instead of a laser point to give an indication of the area actually being measured.

If you're looking for a cheap and still pretty good non-contact thermometer, this one seems like a good deal.
I bought mine for use primarily in the kitchen when using a contact thermometer isn't an option, so I don't need super accurate measurements. After trying it out, my conclusion is that it works like a charm.
