When they work, they are neat: small, light, cheap, with good torque, and fairly easy to mod into a geared reversible DC motor, which is how I used mine.
Weakly built. By the looks of it, the pot is the weakest part. One out of three I have came with a faulty pot and wasn't usable as is. Other problems: when they work, they are not very precise, rather noisy for the size, somewhat slow.
Overall, these are very useful little beasts for non-critical projects, where precision is less important than cost. At 3 bucks or so a pop for 5, the cons are not so worrying.
Rather versatile and cheap, but definitely not heavy duty. Good tool for beginning robotic projects.
