Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month
Pros:
-For the price, I will be very hard-pressed to find similar drivers elsewhere. -Runs to a true 900mA. Some other drivers on DX do not run true to published ratings. -Small and easy to incorporate to many designs -So easy to use, it's almost plug and play; though you must connect the wires first of course
Cons:
-No protective casing. Depending on application this can be either good or bad.. Since in some designs the driver will be placed in a dedicated protected spot a casing would have been a waste... Furthermore losing the case means the driver is cheaper.
OtherThoughts:
-I used this LED driver to run a string of 3 CREE XT-E R5. I'm impressed with the light output. In fact it is bright enough to use as a room light for a 10x10 feet room. -I would recommend using this LED driver with 3 CREE XP-G or the newer, cheaper XT-E in series or other LED that would accept 900-1000mA current. Otherwise run a few parallel strings of 3 LEDs for LED with lower current rating. Follow LED manufacturer's rating to ensure you get a long-lasting LED light. -If driver is used exposed, please fabricate a protective casing for safety. -The setup is not suitable to use for study light as it is too bright for comfort. -From switch on, this LED driver takes ~0.5 seconds to light up the LED instantly without flicker.
Bottomline:
Certainly the choice for LED lighting projects requiring ~10W power. Fully satisfied with this driver and will get more in the near future!!
