  • Best bike-light mount on Deal Extreme

    Pros:

I've tried a bunch of the different flashlight mounts on Deal Extreme and this one is the only one that doesn't suck. It can be a little hard to get a larger diameter light into the clip, but once in it holds surprisingly sturdy. Using it on a handlebar is good, but what I like to do with these even more is unscrew the clip part from the latch part and then attach the clip part to a bike helmet. Works awesome with one of the zooming 18650 lights and you don't have to deal with cables or people stealing your light or battery pack when you park your bike.

    Cons:

The latching mechanism is not very robust. Might not fit on larger handlebars.

    OtherThoughts:

AA lights seem to fit best. 18650 lights also fit well. AAAx3 lights fit but don't feel as secure. AAAx1 lights are too narrow to fit.
The cool thing about these is you can remove the handlebar mounting part and what's left is the clip with a thin flat piece that you can mount on a bike helmet with a little creativity.

    Bottomline:

A combo of one of these on the handlebar and another on your helmet with AA lights make for a great bike light setup and a fantastic value - or for something really awesome use 18650 lights! Besides the much lower cost compared to the fancy HID lights, there's no cables to mess with and mounting/unmounting is so quick and easy you don't have to worry about theft.
