  • Virtually the same as the focused laser version

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:

Relatively small. The rotating prism tip offers some versatility compared to lasers with a fixed optics.

    Cons:

Line begins to break up into dots close to the edges. The prism attachment wobbles slightly, making the device inappropriate for stress-related applications where the line has to remain perfectly still.

    OtherThoughts:

Mechanical issues aside it's good laser for the money. Useful for some precision applications, as long as the lased doesn't come under stress. Voltage is rated at 3V, so don't confuse it with similar looking 4.5V and 5V lasers.

    Bottomline:

In my opinion, the only reasons to chose this laser over the cheaper version is to have a slightly wider line and the ability to rotate it while having the body of the laser locked in place.
