  • Handy, useful tool as an accessory to sewing

    posted by Perumal on 01/02/2013

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

I use it mainly for trimming the end of thread before threading a needle. Fuzzy ends on frayed threads make it extremely difficult for the thread to go through the eye of the needle the first time, and this little scissor will put a sharp point on the thread each time.

Metal scissors do not stay sharp enough to be useful at this task for any reasonable length of time.

The cutting edges are ceramic, so brittle and liable to break if dropped.

There are a few fiddly cutting tasks where this little tool excels, and is virtually irreplaceable. The ceramic blades do not rust or wear away, so they do not need to be oiled. This tool shall last a long time provided reasonable care is taken not to drop it or chip its edges.

A nice tool, indispensable once you experience what it can do.
