Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:

Pure pine resin (most non-etching flux is made from this)
    Cheap cheap cheap.

    Cons:

    Packaged as violin resin.

    OtherThoughts:

This is packaged as violin resin, for coating the bow on bow-string instruments, but it is the exact same resin that is used as soldering flux.

The easiest way to use this as flux is to break it up into smaller pieces and dissolve it in over 95 percent pure alcohol and then use whatever means to apply it to components and PCB before soldering.

    Bottomline:

Buy this if you need to make liquid flux.
