Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:

It is smaller than I expected :) it is like a bigger usb hub connected to my docking station!
Compatible with linux - the only thing you have to enable in your kernel is usb devices, and there only the simple USB Audio/MIDI driver! It could be compiled as a module, then the system will pull that module if you attached it!
In Gnome, with pulseaudio system you can configure it as standard sound output, so every application can use it as a default sound card!
Alsamixer handles it as well, where you can precisely set the exact sound levels for every channel

    Cons:

sometimes it sounds a bit noisy at first time, but then it suddenly goes away :)

    OtherThoughts:

    nothing

    Bottomline:

It is very good if you have only a laptop, but you want to use your 5.1 sound system
