Fair price for a good product. I use a iMac and its internal DVD has broken, so is reasonable to purchase an external DVD RW unit, cheaper than original from Apple and portable to use with another PC/laptop. It is rubber covered (not easy to slip on a table surface). To Mac OS X 10.8, no driver needed, just plug and use.
Consumer wants the lower price for the best product, so I would like to pay a bit lower. The rubber cover gets hand oil, despite another cover material would risk or slip. I know that two usb link is necessary to power, after all disk runs at a great rotation, but only one usb is always desirable. Maybe in future with thunderbolt?
There are cheaper dvd reader-only, and others reader-writer, but I confess I trust on Toshiba label.
Good external optical drive, make sense to replace internal optical drives: price, portable, several devices.
