Way brighter than the 1W T10 PowerLED bulbs with the aluminum round heatsink you see popping up everywhere, inluding here at DX: SKU 35621 a.o.
Has two diodes and two-sided connectors with pass-through holes, so it can be plugged in any way you like.

Too bad the light is ony directed to one side.

If that's not what you need, you can Dremel off the part of the PCB that slides into the connector, just next to the pass-through holes. Then, solder two wires from that part to the small pass-through holes. Superglue the connector to the rear of the PCB in a T-shape fashion. Cumbersome, but at least I got a cheap, low-power, ultrabright reading/dome light for any VW. It will remain a pain to install from the front though, since it's become too wide for rear assembly like an original bulb.

If you need a small trunk light, a sidelight (parking light) in your front reflectors, a dome light, or anything that has a W5W fitting and needs its light to be cast sideways, this is your ticket.
