Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week
This is the cheapest helicopter available here with a 500 mAH battery.
The list of default pros:
)large battery capacity (10+ min of flight)
)Very strong frame
)Easy to modify
)If you hit the ceiling, it just continues to fly!
Pro's when modified (Removed leds, eye-candy. Making more power available for the motors and less weight)
)All default Pros
)Long flight-time (15+ min)
)Reacts very quickly to what you do
)Does not turn very fast
)Barely able to climb
)It takes some seconds before the helicopter does what you do on the remote
)The gyro is not good
Cons when modified:
)The first 3 minutes of flight on a full battery are very hard to throttle. the minimum throttle to activate the motors is enough to hover. Thus, any more makes you hit the ceiling, and less comes crashing down
)The gyro is still not good (Problem with all cheap helis)
Because of the low cost (€27), the fun:cost ratio is very good! Don't buy it if you do not plan on making the small modifications.
After I modified it, it could carry a Nokia 1100 battery (23 gram) taped underneath. I was testing if the extra weight was a problem or not before finding out how to connect a heavier battery (No point in more capacity if it cant fly).
Do not unscrew the axle for the propellers. It will wear slighly, and can cause one of the gears to get stuck between the motors. This has happened to me, and I now have to replace the motor.
Very good helicopter if you remove all the leds + decoration.
