Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month
Pros:
Low cost wick that does the job.
Saturated with no-clean RMA flux.
Cons:
There are better brands available (but they also cost more).
OtherThoughts:
In my profession I use desoldering braids frequently and after trying out many brands I have a favorite that I buy in bulk. This wick is not the best I’ve used but it’s also not the worst, it does the job fairly well and should be a good choice for the casual user. The residue from the no-clean flux can be left on the PCB after desoldering but I would personally have preferred a more active "must-clean" flux that would have provided better capillary action. For the casual user and novice I always recommend using wick over desoldering pumps, the recoil of a low cost pump can easily damage PCB tracks and isn’t as effective in removing parts from through plated holes as a desoldering wick. If you’re having problems removing a part with this product you can try and dip the wick (no pun intended)in some other flux that’s more active.
Bottomline:
Fairly good desoldering wick that will work for most desoldering jobs.
Good desoldering wick
