  • Good version has springs

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:

Charges fairly fast and does two cells in parallel. Charging LED changes from red to green when both cells are fully charged.

Cells are charged in parallel, so they always finish at the same time even if they were not originally in the same charge state.

    Cons:

If you have the version with springs it will do both protected and regular cells with no problem. There is also a version with springy tabs which does not provide enough clearance for protected cells unless you bend the tabs. If you bend them, then unprotected cells will not make contact.

    OtherThoughts:

The contacts on the positive end can slide down and prevent batteries from making contact. Solution is to apply a dab of superglue to hold them in place.

If the charging LED never changes to red, then you have a connection problem (assuming the cells are not fully charged)

    Bottomline:

Works well, the version without the coil springs contacts will give you problems.
