  • Perfect replacement for Qualcom Gobi 2000

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:

    - More stable connection than Gobi 2000. Doesn't disconnect and stay offline for several minutes when just losing the signal for a couple of seconds.
    - Cheap.
    - Easy to install and replace.
    - Drivers built in to the Linux kernel.

    Cons:

    - A bit tricky in Windows (drivers).
    - Needs a lot of hacking to get GPS working in Linux (haven't tried in Windows).
    - Haven't managed to send SMS via gammu/wammu (seems like a bug).

    OtherThoughts:

    None.

    Bottomline:

Love it. Unless you really need to use the GPS or send texts, it's perfect. I only use it for surfing.
