  • Be wary of the scale that you use.

Reasonable quality overall, but for the price it can't be beat. Quick to react, and is uniform in the measurements.

The manufacturer's customer support person doesn't quite understand the relationship between PPM scales and EC readings. All PPM meters convert from an EC scale to PPM, and it depends on where the unit is to be used that depends on the conversion algorythm used.

This unit is calibrated to the "Hanna" scale; that is a conversion factor of 0.5, which is primarily for the North American market. The EU market and the Australasian market use either 1 1.0 or a 0.7 conversion scale (I can't remember which one uses which). As long as you know this is a 0.5PPM (North American scale), you should be sweet.

It does the job for which it was designed, and it does it in an efficient way. Don't use it for laboratory work, or for making fissile material, but if you need to measure your swimming pool, or indeed your vegetable growing solution, this is the thing to have.
