If you want to start using microcontrollers, this is board for you.

And even if you are experienced user, with Nano you can build circuits around it without to much components.

Simple to connect, development software is free and open source.

And DX offers it at very reasonable price. In my country price is three to four times higher.

There's onboard regulator from 12V to 5V, which is obviously the worst part of this item.

I bought four of them. Regulator doesn't work on one from beginnig, on the other died after 15 minutes, while on other two works as it should. (check Discussions).

But if you will use it on 5 volts, this is not big Con anyway.

Arduino in general is nice platform for entering the world of microcontrollers. It has flat learning curve and big comunity.

Arduino Nano is specialy easy to use because of 30 pin connector.

Can be used on protoboards and then soldered directly in PCB.

I used to play with Z80 (difficult to use, complicated IO), 8031 (needs external EPROM), some PICs(simmilar as AVR) and AVRs(same uP family, as used here).

Based on my experiences i can tell you that Nano is the simplest way to add microcontrolling to any circuit.
