Flickering, battery compartment is a bit too small for 2xCR123As, and just recently it stopped working alltogether. The actual circuitboard broke very easily. LED wasn't properly connected to the heatsink, and i belive it overheated and therefore broke. I don't mind the light breaking, and I already order some spare parts for it. Those are quite cheap too! It's small, powerful, and sturdy. I belive mine was simply a bad unit.

Very useful output for outdoor use. Good for illuminating areas of a 50ft x 100ft yard. Illuminates trees approx. 200ft away clear enough to see what lurks in the branches at night. SLightly larger spill area than some others, due to a less-deep parabolic reflector. Seems just slightly bluer than my other Q5 lights. Good overall size, not too big to put in a pocket. I bought 3 of these, and one was a little tweaky as the clicky switch has to be not-too-tight to operate. If I tighten it too much, the light will not work. 2 out of 3 work fine. consistant construction among all three. Similar, consistant beam quality/pattern as well. For the price, it's a good deal. The beam pattern works well for outdoor use. I believe most lithium-battery Q5 lights are a tad too bright for most indoor use in a house. It's just overkill. My preference is for a medium to long throw with good spill, which is tricky since throw requires more parabolic reflector surface area (and usually deeper) to concentrate the light, which sets the light source deeper within the reflector, which in turn means less spill. To put it simply, the focal point of the reflector has more mirror surface wrapped around it. An example of this is the Tiablo A9. The texturing, or level of "orange-peel" of the reflector mainly just softens the edges of the reflected/focused light source. I don't see the point of calling it a "pro" or "con" if it is for wide area or for throwing a beam as it's just a matter of design for a particular purpose. A Porsche 911 is bad for hauling trash to the dump, as is a dump truck for racing...each has it purpose. Bottom line.....highly recommended light for general use, biased slightly for illuminating up to 100ft. And you can always unscrew the lens/reflector and use it as a candle.

Seems fairly rugged, fairly well heat-sinked.
Machining seems well-spec'ed. The switch must be positively pressed. No simple tap to turn it on, this thing almost has to be held in both hands. It's harder to turn on than that girl you used to date in high school that just wanted to make out and talk but then later screwed the guy that used to pick on you for your lisp.
The switch kind of has to be pushed a little off-kilter, rather than straight in. Oddly, the modes are regulated by the tailcap switch. One full click to turn it from off to high, then another FULL click to switch to low and another full click to turn off. Semi-presses don't do a thing except for momentarily extinguish light.
The body is a bit short: even my medium-sized hand overlaps the heatsink fins and tailcap. This doesn't really affect anything. A bit about the light emitted: It is colored more warmly than my SF G2 with sku 1447 or my SF D3 with R2-bin sku 11836, BUT the main beam is narrow and more dim than either. The sidespill is wider but dimmer. I find it odd that a Q5 can't beat a common-bin Cree P60.
I guess the regulator must be at a low amperage. Hopefully that means long run time, but that depends a lot on the efficiency of the convertor.
Finally, this light will be relegated to my "fire bag," the bag that holds stuff that I need in case the house catches on fire from all the lights.
I do really like how warm the color is.

This is a great bedside light for things that go bump in the night. Would blind anyone in front of the light! Easily lights up a room. This is a fantastic light. Super bright without the super-high price tag. Get it, you won't be disappointed!

Very bright on 18650 with great throw. Tight spot with bright spill for close range use. Finish clean and uniform. Head glued on as seems to be the case for recent C2's from Ultrafire. Thankfully, pill is still removable. Was missing the tail cap o-ring upon arrival. Sensitive and seemingly fragile clicky which when activated, is in contact with clicky cover nipple. Began flickering soon after arrival which seemed to be caused by imperfect contact on positive solder blob. This light was a replacement for a light with a defective reflector that I made worse by attempting to polish (thanks DX!) Flicker was cured with small spring at positive solder blob for good contact. Ultrafire really needs to address the clicky switch by replacement with a more robust one such as older C2's came with. Temporary replacement with sku 5632 is much better on mine. Still a great light for the price, and would be even better for the money if Ultrafire fixes the clicky issue. Putting a spring on the positive pole (like the Romisen U4 sku 11119) would be a tremendous improvement for reliability and not costly or difficult to do.

Throws pretty well for a slightly textured reflector. Clickie a little finicky, light sometimes doesn't go on with first click, probably needs a little tinkering to fix. Q5 technology is simply amazing! I'm hooked and need more! Having one is not enough. Great light for fishing, only drawback is that it's so bright, the fish may think it's daytime! This light is worth every penny.

Poor quality clicky switch spoilt this light, but still functional. The glass cover for the head is rather thin and in my own opinion may break easily.
