Pros:
I was looking for a recorder with a jack for external mic (and this is great, especialy since the mic is provided inside the package).
Good sound quality. I'm not a sound expert, but it did the job for me (recording audio for a short clip - it sounds much better than the camera mic)
If you have your headphones conected while you record the sound you will hear it amplified... so spying on your naighbour is an ideea it has more than 31 volume levels as said in the manual. english user-manual very loud and nice speaker in the rear.
Great for playback also, not shown in the pictures: the package includes headphones for playback, with the same kind of 3mm jack as the mic.
Cons:
the lcd isn't backlit!! it sais so in the manual but it isn't! Big CON... you can't see anything without some light around you!
Also the menu is kind of weird. on an off by pressing and holding play/pause, unlike it sais in the book: press and hold play to turn on, and press an hold stop to turn off. No, STOP only stops the recording or the playback.
the rubber that covers the usb is kind of hard to remove. You will need long nails :)
Hold button did fail once... it was unlocked but the screen sain hold!
Have no ideea why, but at first use it was shutting down when holding mode button pressed, so entering the menu was imposibble.
Other:
has a red led that blinks while recording (you can turn it on or off fron the menu) That is the only LED on it... wished it had that blue backlight as said in the manual
Bottomline:
nice gadget to use at daylight... or to just record at night, without changing anything in the menu. Problem is that you don't know when it is on (and it takes a while to turn on)... at power off the red led will blink shortly, but at power on...nothing, just guess, or try to start recording and wait for the blinking led
