Not a quality problem but an useless product – Lens Hood for Canon EF-S Reviews

The build quality is pretty much the same as the canon original ones. The price is quite fair and lower than Canon's.
This product is actually useless by definition. The point is that it needs to be pretty short in order to avoid vignetting (the lens hood or its shadows appearing in the edges of the photographs). Because of that, it hardly protect the lens from the sun light. So it does not work properly in avoiding glare or avoiding the annoying sun light hexagons and circles in the photographs.
This product can be also used as an extra protection for your lens, but it is nothing needed. The lens hood offered in Deal Extreme for longer lens (the ET-60, for the 75-300mm, for example) works perfectly.
I would not recommend this product. Not because of its quality (which is very good), but because it is naturally useless as its physical constraints (lenght) does not allow it to perform its function properly.
