Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month
- Easy to set up
- Windows XP SP3 wants to install driver every time you plug it in. I get around this by having 8 USB ports and never unplugging it.
- There's a consistent line at the bottom of the video. May be an artifact of the camera though.
- Default AVI encoding is horribly interlaced.
It did a decent job of converting the Hi-8 videotapes we recorded of the kids at Christmas. I'm sure there's better recording software out there, but this does the job.
Good deal if you have a bunch of videotapes you want to convert to digital inexpensively.
