    Pros:
Really quick delivery, the assembly is high quality, everything is precisely according to the advertised specifications. Works perfectly out-of-the box, just plugged it into my Arduino Uno R3 board.
    Cons:
    None really.

Best display option to get a display going quickly

posted by jwaustincrowe on 11/11/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Plugs in and works - eg, use 'HelloWorld' example sketch under LiquidCrystal, but modify to use with constructor of 'LiquidCrystal lcd(8,9,4,5,6,7);' - as suggested previously. Works on 5V too (others are for 3.3v).Doesn't interfere with the spi pins, more ...
    Cons:
Reset button is near the other buttons - easy to press if not careful.

    Pros:
Very good (when it works :P) product, you just have to go to arduino.cc to see the tutorial for liquidCrystal library but you have to get by for the keyborad (no library :/). To connect it, just like the other said, do : liquidCrystal lcd(8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 7...
    Cons:
I don' know why but at the begining, it won't work ... I can't see anything on it and suddenly it work !?! I won't understand b...

posted by pushtunas1 on 09/23/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
The display works great. It is easy to set up, just use [Arduino: LiquidCrystal lcd(8,9,4,5,6,7)]. It is simple to find appropriate code examples for this LCD shield. It can be directly plug onto the Arudino board, no soldering or fly-wiring needed. Very in...
    Cons:
The blue box to adjust the brightness is a bit to high so you will have a problem when you put it in an case.

    Pros:
-VERY bright 16x2 lcd -Works beautifully on my arduino, perfect fit, love the shield -Has a reset button so you don't have to reach under the shield everytime you want to reset -The buttons are all good to use.
    Cons:
No cons at all, other than having to turn the pin to adjust contrast at first, because it's turned all the way to the left.

Very cheap and functional Arduino LCD shield

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Very cheap and functional LCD shield. Worked perfectly out of the box. Example code ran fine as long as the correct pin configuration is used just as several others have documented in their reviews.
    Cons:
It took some digging through earlier reviews to figure out the pin configuration. The biggest drawback is the blue pot for adju...

    Pros:
Easy to configure and program based on examples directly from arduino. Have some buttons so that you can add some interactivity to your project.
    Cons:
There are two cons I can see now. 1) if you plan to connect something else to the microcontroler, this shield do not allow you ...

    Pros:
It´s a fun human-machine interface to arduino, kind of retro.. I can say that its pros are: It actually works with the Mega 2560. It´s educative. Display is brilliant.
    Cons:
Not plug and play, had to invest some time, actually 2 hours to get it working properly. Had to google for documentation and ev...
