Pros:
Good price, quality, and can do what was expected of it. This is a very good board/value, if you have some idea how to connect it. I still don't know what all the straps are for ? But I just left them alone.
Cons:
Documentation lacking: but here are a few hints. with motor A and B, I will discuss just B. pins in3 & in4 control direction. ENB enables motor B, and can be used with PWM. If in3 & in4 are both the same level (both high, or both low), the motor will not run. If they are different, the motor will run one direction, or the other.
Other:
The unit will drop about 2 volts, so using 5 volts to run a 5 volt motor only gives about 3 volts. Use external higher power supply. The center screw terminal is for ground, 5V, and the terminal VMS is for positive power supply to power motor (like 12 volts), can be more than 12 volts tho. If you want to power the Arduino from this board, strap 5V_EN.
Bottomline:
I have hooked this up with two different motors, ran them backwards and forward, used PWM to change their speeds, with great success.
