    Pros:
    - this sparkle works exactly as expected; - it was delivered quick and in a perfect condition; - sparkles a huge, you can setup the fire very fast.
    Cons:
    - the connecting nylon stripe could be slightly longer, then it would be much easier to operate (although it's just a wish, in ...

    Great spark maker

posted by Shunra1 on 04/21/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Makes lots of hot sparks, lasts very long, very easy to use - just scrape the main rod and you have got a shower of sparks, large size can be a plus
    Cons:
A bit large, while a good survival tool, most of the times it is easier just to use matches or a lighter.

Handy, cheap and works like a charm

posted by tonytoxic on 03/30/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
As always the price; these things are more expensive in an outdoor store than on dx.com. Build quality is fine. After striking a couple of times the first sparks came of it with ease. The grip on the top is steady and firm. My thumb did not slip while holdi...
    Cons:
The steel that comes with it, is not that sturdy. Using a knife to get the sparks is recommended.

    Backup fire

posted by kozinov on 03/28/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Very good price. Quality is OK, but if you really want to make fire , you must train BEFORE, you started do it under rain in clear field.
    Cons:
Binded blade is just for set, better use normal knife. I recommend to take metal knife with long blade shaped like as hook (htt...

    Every camper should have this

posted by Jarwis on 03/27/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Build quality is good, nothing to complain, it's steady and firm.
    Cons:
Plus or minus; the scourer should have handle. But this would increase the size of this equipment, and you can use any metal to...

    Simple and cheap

posted by mcguier on 03/26/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Novice  (still getting used to it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Easy to use, good value for the price, reliable. It was easy to "extract" the first sparkles. Nothing more to tell about such simple product.
    Cons:
Would like to have some kind of hard\soft case in the set in order to protect the sparkle from cracking and so on. But it's not...

    Pros:
This is a very good firesteel! I was very impressed when it came. Very thick bar, very solid feeling, it feels like I paid four times as much for this. I keep it in my kit whenever I go out and tested it the other day on a camping trip, even with slightly w...
    Cons:
Can't think of any, the string holding the striker on is a little weak but it's definitely strong enough to keep the striker on...

    Pros:
->the stuff is really low cost. ->looks really good. Almost like the one bear grills uses on man vs wild ->very good and bright spark. Tried it on paper and it burnt, but didnt catch fire. ->once you get the hang of its easy to spark, and they ...

Great product - would buy again

posted by BrownRed on 03/01/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Great firesteel - my third. Throws out considerable sparks. I didn't even try the blade that comes with it, but prefer to use the backside of my knife (Mora FireKnife) which is made for firesteel use.
    Cons:
Magnesium rod came loose after around 20 strong strikes. Not a problem - it can be easily stuck back in and holds fine. I'm s...
