Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month
It does what it;s supposed to be doing and it is cheap.
I used it to feed a 24 channel servo driver with 5V. The original source was 18V 6A, and the average current consumption on the driver peaked at ~1.5A during the testing of some servos.
The problem is that after 30-40 min the whole contraption got too hot and the unit smoked. This wouldn't have been a problem except that once the transformer blew, it leaked pure input voltage on the output lines, thus feeding all my servos with 18V. WARNING!
Long story short, it cost me 24 servos.
Think of safer solutions if you're not an expert.
It's not a bad unit, but use it only if you're sure of what you are doing. Be careful to compute you current consumption, and add a heat sink.
