Very decent construction. Strong and tight. Good amount of volume. 99 Memories. Can store seperate receive and transmit frequency in each memory. Also separate CTCSS encode and decode tone memories. Flexible repeater offset available. Lightweight. Comes with a 1100 mAh NiMH battery. Wide frequency range, 400-470 Mhz. Has channel# or Freq or VFO modes. Bright and highly visible display. Low/hi transmit power selectability. Scanning capability. Selectable channel spacing.
No DTMF capability! (Even though there are * and # on the keypad.) No squelch control so squelch cannot be adjusted at all. No AGC or limiter, so transmit FM deviation seems a bit low (soft). Scanning speed is not very fast. Voice prompt volume cannot be adjusted, and voice is either Chinese or silent.
Outer ring around power/volume control knob on top of unit is fake. Second rubber button below PTT is fake. Red button is not power, but it is actually the function key. Charger is not UL listed. No FCC ID.
This makes an excellent and inexpensive spare radio for licensed Ham operators. If you are a Ham operator, you will use it and have fun with it, despite the limitations. Best value for the price.
