    Replacement lens

posted by mblogst on 01/17/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Great. Finally gor no ir-cut lens for my foscam outdor cameras. Due to an view angle > 90° the outer portions of the picture are a bit blured. But that is expected. The installation was simple, mounted it withoud spring and foam part.
    Cons:
A bit too high price for such lens.

    Simple but effective

posted by jason1091 on 01/07/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Novice  (still getting used to it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Huge improvement to viewing angle. I used this with the "Standalone IP Wireless WIFI/LAN Camera with Night Vision and Pan/Tilt Motors" (http://dx.com/p/standalone-ip-wireless-wifi-lan-camera-with-night-vision-and-pan-tilt-motors-26358) and it real...
    Cons:
Nothing major. Installation simply involves unscrewing the factory lens, and screwing this one in it's place. Might take a bit ...

    Pros:
Extreme wide angle More than doubles viewing area compared to standard Foscam lens. Cheap
    Cons:
Some tunnelling effect (but there always is with such extreme wide angle lenses)

A little blurry, no IR filter, but very wide angle

posted by rocketmonkeys on 03/20/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
I had a webcam (zonet zvc7611) that needed a wider angle. The threads on this lens fit perfectly, but the focal distance is longer so this lens needs to be further away than the stock lens. This means that the lens had to be held in *front* of the lens mo...
    Cons:
Blurry outer edges. Needs longer lens mount than stock, required mods.

    great

posted by Snupptttt on 03/05/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Much wider angle, I can actually see a full area I want to without panning my cam, They come with a protective cover over the lens (lens cap) Generally clearer image than the lens that comes with the original device, I own 4 x Foscam 8918W's (not off DX)
    Cons:
Focus is mainly in the middle area, and the edges are blurrier, also the ring is smaller, so dust could get into the cam

Great lens for a cheap webcam

posted by pauloricca on 04/12/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I used this lens with a very cheap logitech webcam. The original image quality was very very poor, the image was very dark, with lots of grain due to the poor quality plastic (I guess) optics. When I put this lens on the webcam the difference was astronomic...
    Cons:
none really.. except that when it says wide angle, they don't mean it on the small sensors of cheap webcams, so the field of vi...
