It's small and cheap and simple to use. I am using it with the a2dpd driver in Linux (had to compile from source, but it was easy).
Not really. You need a power supply, but you probably have one. You also need a bluetooth device which will send music (a smartphone or a PC). Don't expect it to do anything other than convert bluetooth to audio.
The USB connector is for power only (it does not appear on your computer as a USB device). You can use a 5V USB power supply to power this thing.
The 3.5mm socket is an output. The sound signal comes out here. You can plug your speaker cable into it, or you can use the supplied 3.5mm male-male cable to connect the output of this device to the input of your audio amplifier.
