Certainly *NOT* EL! – Flashing Blue Light Bootlaces/Shoelaces (Pair) Reviews

Pros:
Er, cheap, you certainly won't be able to shock yourself on it.
Cons:
Ok, so these are clearly not EL in any way. EL means "Electro-Luminescent", a technology which uses a layer of crystals over a conductive substrate, and a transparent conductive top coat. A special high frequency, high voltage power supply then makes all the materials glow beautifully. This is not that. This is a bit of clear plastic wire, which attaches to a little LED-in-a-box. Don't buy this if you are expecting a cheap source of EL wire! I just bought 5, waited months for delivery, and they are tat. Oh, and the LED isn't even very bright.
Other:
My plan was to sew these into a jacket. That's not going to work, and you'd not see it unless totally dark.
Bottomline:
Don't buy this, it is mis-described.
