D batteries are considerably more expensive than AA batteries, so in the long term you'll save money powering your electronics by purchasing these.
These are also good if you use D batteries infrequently but usually have AAs on hand.
The hinges on the bottom seem rather thin an flimsy as others have commented. If it breaks, though, nothing a spot of tape won't hold together.
Increase your battery savings cost by getting rechargeable AAs too. Up-front cost is a little more, but you'll use them for years and save money in the long run.
If you have a regular use for D batteries, there's no reason to not get these, as they will save you money. Frugal!
