A bit more than 1/4 the price of the equivalent Gorillapod.
Looks pretty similar, and specs are greater than the Gorillapod SLR.
Won't hold a standard sized SLR (I've got a Canon 30d) with a pretty normal sized lens (28-105 USM.) The top ball (behaves like a basic ball head,) loses grip.
There is no stiffness adjustment on the top ball.
It's very close to holding my camera as long as it's upright. My camera is 700g for the body and 375g for the lens, so it is pushing the specs of this tripod (states 1200g capacity.) SLR's don't have their center of balance anywhere near their tripod mount, so it isn't surprising that it doesn't quite cut it.
It should do OK with a small SLR like a Canon Rebel or Nikon D40.
Should work great with a super-zoom compact or modern camcorder.
Great deal, but not quite up to the task of holding my camera. Would buy a knockoff of the larger Gorillapod SLR-Zoom if it became available at a reasonable price.
