Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week
-Made of anodised aluminium and decent quality plastic
-Quick release mechanism makes life a lot easier
-A little bit of oil goes a long way to making the controls smooth and accurate
-Controls are stiff enough to hold my Olympus e450 DSLR with ease (and probably larger cameras too)
-Very light and quite sturdy
-The quick release plate doesn't fit snugly into the tripod head - it can move around a bit
-The controls are a bit stiff to work with at first
-Telescoping legs feel a bit fragile
-A large zoom lens might be pushing it, but if you can afford one of those, you can probably afford a more rugged tripod
The main thing this tripod needs is a little lubricant. I unscrewed and oiled the controls that move the head to help everything glide a little easier, and it worked like a charm.
While the quick release mechanism is great, the camera can move around a little in its holder. This doesn't seem to affect image quality though, so it's not as bad as it sounds.
A good, sturdy tripod that turns into a great one with the application of a little oil.
The cheapest way to make your pictures look sharp.
Probably best suited to cameras with a live-view screen, as it can be annoying to bend down to frame a shot in the viewfinder with this relatively small tripod.
