Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

Pros:
Discharge cut off protection below 2.75v or 10A.
Cons:
Reset not automatic even when all voltages removed. I've found the best method is momentary short of the neg (battery) to neg (output) via a push button switch or springy tab solder to board.
Other:
Can be used to protect series wired multi cell batteries as follows: Total protection: use 1 circuit on each cell. Any cell falling below 2.7v will stop discharge of the whole battery. Of course, lots of wires, switches, trouble to build and expensive. Reasonable protection: Use circuit to monitor 1 cell of a multi-cell, series connected battery. Check all cell voltages during 1 or 2 cycles. If this circuit is used on the weakest cell, then all cells will be protected. If you can't determine the weakest cell, then pick any one. The voltages of the un-monitored cells may drop below 2.7v, until the monitored cell reaches cut off, but it's not likely to be long enough to do severe damage.
Bottomline:
Li Ion cell can not be over discharged without suffering damage and shortened cycle life. This circuit offers inexpensive protection for both single cell and higher voltage multi-cell applications.
