Orienteering compass – Compass with Map Measuring Ruler Lanyard Reviews

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

Pros:
What can I say? It points to magnetic north, as a compass should. Smart looking, nice colours, and includes a string for hanging it around one's neck. The plate includes circle and triangle holes so orienteerers can notate their own maps, and a low quality magnifying glass. There are various scales along the edges which might assist with map reading.
Cons:
Mine came with the black/white dial with S at the top instead of N. Much easier to use once I corrected that. (Would have given it a 4 for build quality if I hadn't needed to change it.)
The glow in the dark markings do glow but are so dim that they're effectively useless.
Other:
Need to remember to manually correct for magnetic declination.
Bottomline:
A good buy. For this price there's not much excuse for not having one when you're away from civilisation.
