    Seems to have come right

posted by joshyboy on 06/21/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Seems to be working ok now. Get around 70MB/s transfers. Plugs and plays. Slots fine into a 54mm expresscard slot.
    Cons:
Was getting around 10-15MB/s when I first plugged it in. I used the standard windows drivers and it wasn't happy. Since the CD...

Works fine in Linux, fast, no extra drivers needed

posted by tillos on 07/09/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
It is plug and play for Ubuntu (actually any Linux distribution should work). I did not need the CD. I get consistently over 70MB/s for my external disk while connecting to USB2.0 would achieve up to 25MB/s (variable, depends on CPU load and size of files)...
    Cons:
I did not find any. I'll write in the comments if it breaks down too soon.

    Very useful item

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
    * Very cheap compared to other alternatives in our local internet computer shops (30% of prize of cheapest)[CZ]. * It works like a charm with my netbook Asus N10J. With Windows 7 (32bit) no driver CD is needed, just launch Search for new devices in the Ha...

First flush eSATA card I found for laptops

posted by awdark on 10/13/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
It is flush with the laptop so it looks nice. I connected a SATA laptop drive and I managed to transfer a large file at 60mb/s (according to vista's speed meter) Did not need drivers for Vista 32 or Win7 64bit.
    Cons:
Driver disk is unreadable. A bit thick so it is hard to insert and pull out without a esata cable connected to it.
