Involvement:Novice (still getting used to it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

Pros:
Great little modem. Has Rx and Tx lights and has higher throughput than other new chipsets. Solid build quality.
Cons:
Based on an older chipset (Smartlink). This chipset is no longer formally supported by the company that bought it, so no new drivers are published. Existing drivers work well, but are not digitally signed. Windows XP and Vista 32 bit will whine, and 64 bit Vista and Windows 7 won't work unless you disable driver signing enforcement.
Other:
For those who can't find 64-bit drivers, please google:
SLU56-V4.20.01-MV-XP64Bit.zip
It is the 64-bit XP driver, but it will work on Windows Vista/7. You need to Disable Driver Signing before you boot in Windows Vista and 7 and can do so with the advanced boot using F8 or just google: "Windows 7 Disable Driver Signature enforcement"

Bottomline:
It's a little pain that you have to disable driver signing every time you want to use it, but you only have to do this at boot time. I get better throughput with this modem that one with the newer AT&T/Agere/LSI chipset.
