-Solid Metal -Good looking long antenna -Long power chord even if its USA pins I could bend them careful for AUS/NZ Socket
-Didnt fit on one router a older wireless G syslink one.. the antenna where thicker screw design however it fit nicely the newer D-link dir-825 -Although it added 1 bar to most things to what i was getting anyhow the samsung tv was getting a nice 4 bars other end of house and laptop windows 7 with 5 bars the cheap Chinese tablet with bad wifi antenna got a slight boost but was still only max 1-2 bars where the laptop in same location was 4 bars. now we are talking about 10-12 meters from antenna booster that passes through glass door and one brick wall and 2 plaster boards with wooden framing. outside ip camera about the same where also getting 4-5 bars and 30-43MB speed according to the router status. I think its done something
Somehow I doubt it gives a 1000 meter range or more.. a lot depends also on the device antenna im also wondering if I needed 2 units since wireless N has 2 antennas where it matches the antennas for the way it does a speed boost over 54mbits its a shame the unit does have 2 antennas as well with 2 inputs??? although a Samsung Tablet had 5 bars and said 72mbit speed 3-5 meters away in same room and my windows 7 laptop i7 HP probook said 5 bars with speed of 144mbit but i doubt it would get that would drop off under strain?
Maybe worth buying a different router that offers 1000mw on 2 antennas but this seems good work around on a existing router but this seems to get a wee boost to signal strength and maybe a slight range gain on good antenna receiver gear. maybe ideal for a big paddock where your miles away might get 1-2 bars and maybe ip cameras around the property also replace the bottom antenna on router which got in way of usb socket and cables so some benefit there as well NOTE! I also disabled the dual band for 5ghz (dir-825) since wasnt sure if it work or cause damage when the unit only boosts 2.4ghz range. wasnt sure if it pass through the other freqs. which I doubt.
