Nightlight or workbench additional lighting – 12V LED Strip (30-LED 50cm White) Reviews

Pros:
Nice (mostly) sealed construction, suitable for use in kitchen to improve illumination of bench. Also nice low profile. There is a connecter at each end for linking. Wires are soft like silicone or other high temperature (safe) wire.
Cons:
This is a 2W lamp. If I knew that I would not have bought it as I need more for lighting a kitchen workbench. But it is sufficient. Sealing at wires is not the best, so for acquarium you should add a bit of silicone (only at wires). Wire tails should be shorter, because if you link it you probably want them as close together as possible. I'll just cut/solder/heatshrink it together. Housing is plastic, not metal. Metal would have been nicer, but I guess plastic is easier to mount using double sided tape (actually industrial VHB tape).
Other:
I'll probably buy more because of the low profile and sufficient light. It is relatively directional because the LEDs have a built-in lens. We'll get some more for our kitchen work bench, perhaps also for cupboards.
Bottomline:
Does what it says, would have prefered a bit more details on specifications, but it does work. It is 12V 170mA. Any regulated 12V supply will do. If you want to use it in a car and want it to last, connect a 10 Ohm 1W resistor in series (2V / 10 Ohm = 200mA, close enough). 5 Ohm is too little and eventually the strip will fail.
