Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    1. Inexpensive. 2. Lens can be replaced. 3. Lens can be rotated in a small range of angles for fine adjustment
    Cons:
    1. Line quality (intensity and shape) varies a lot along the line. I wanted a thin line at the distance of 200mm. However at bo...

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Get this laser if you're looking for an entertainment-grade device (eg. a laser for a smoke machine light show or a toy weapon targeting system). For precision measurement and alignment either get a professional cross-laser from a home hardware manufacturer...
    Cons:
I bought 2 of these and both had slightly misaligned prisms, meaning the lines weren't 100% perpendicular and their length was ...

    Pros:
When unpacking, I was really surprised by the mechanical buld quality. The module itself (the cylinder) is made from stainless steel, only the lens holder is made from plastic, but also covered with stainless steel. We use 4 of them to mark the corners of t...

The best choice for cheap laser scanner solution!

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
The laser is focusable, so you can adjust the line to about 1mm thickness or even less, and the line is bright enough even when powered from 3.7 li-ion battery.
    Cons:
When focusing the line you must rotate the hole laser around lens :( otherwise the line rotates too. It is really not good for ...

    Pros:
Very good quality and bright laser line. You can focuse the line by turning the front of the laser. I use it for a laserscanner and it works perfectly. The laser line is about 2mm at is thinnest at about 5cm from an object. I put in 5v and this works fine, ...
    Cons:
I have no bad things to say about the product.

Much better than what I thought

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Pretty good, relatively small and light operates just fine from 3V to 5V. Beam strong enough to be visible at least 10 feet away on white walls.
    Cons:
Beam rotates as you focus it. Be very careful to glue or otherwise immobilize the focus ring or your beam is not going to be level

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
It's small, well built module with adjustable focus and wide angle. Very bright then powered from 3x1.5v (AA, 4.5v total) batteries.
    Cons:
As noted in other reviews, line ends are blurred and looks like a series of dots. I don't think it's really a con - it's visibl...

    Quality line laser

posted by bb990 on 11/08/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
This is a small, well built unit - easy to mount it anywhere; the line is focusable - about two turns of the lens covers the whole focus interval, very even along the length - only tips of the light are slightly uneven.
    Cons:
None really. The line has its thickness at around 0.5 mm, however for all my applications that is no issue.

    Pros:
Makes a nice line, works well. easy adjustment stabel line. needs no refocussing when it is on for a hour. very nice thin line with equal brightness. Its small. Bought 3, all were fine, and gave the same line. Can be focused.
    Cons:
Its not a perfect line. The middle looks great, but both ends look a little bit like a line of dots. Its only the last 5% of th...

Able to focus but at the expense of other features

posted by bestenemy on 02/02/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Able to focus the line. Can work with higher voltages compared to all other 5mW red line lasers at Deal Extreme.
    Cons:
Line starts breaking up at the edges. As a result, the intensity of the light is uneven. The line achieves sharp focus when the...
